Human Rights Books Books are a great way to teach about human rights!  Here are few book lists to get you started.

Human Rights Films Films are a powerful and engaging way to bring human rights into the classroom. 

  • Amnesty International - a selection of resources that cover both Hollywood blockbusters and films made especially for schools.
  • The Human Rights Video Project - a national library project created to increase the public's awareness of human rights issues through the medium of documentary films.
  • The Hub - WITNESS' new video community for human rights, where you can upload, watch and share videos about human rights - and take action to help end human rights abuses.
  • Plan USA -  Their film library includes films were written, directed and produced by the children in different parts of the world. Several of the films have won awards for their insight and honesty about sensitive topics such as child abuse, early marriage, the life of street children, HIV/AIDS and child labor.
  • The New Heroes - a PBS four-hour series, hosted by Robert Redford, which tells the dramatic stories of twelve social entrepreneurs who bring innovative, empowering solutions to the most intractable social problems around the world.  Includes classroom materials written for students in grades 6-12 to deepen their understanding of the world and related social issues.
